Chapter 1.1 - Breadboarding basics-Description

8051 breadboard practical

As discusssed in the main chapter that the breadboarding is the very basic step which is implemented first before mounting any controller or IC. It involves from carefully designig the power supply setup which will protect the components which are mounted on the breadboard and work on very low voltagte. The power stage will supply a constant amount of voltage. In the basics section we have learned that the 8051 micrcontroller works on +5V DC power supply. But generally we use a battery higher that the 5V. So, inorder to supply 5V, we are using 7805 regulator IC which will ensure that the breadboard is being supplied by 5V DC voltage. Following image will show the pinout of 7805 regulator IC.

But when it comes for power supply, we have to carefully design the system that it should also protect the surge in the system i.e if the power supply is removed in instant, then the power supply should dissipate slowly. For that we use capacitors which would not only act as power conserves but also protect the system by maintaining and slowly dissipating the power even after the battery is removed. We will also be using LED bulbs to indicate that the power supply is being maintained properly in the breadboard. We have already covered the basics including how capacitors work.
